چکیده

To guarantee quality of service (QoS), the requirements for video transmission, such as delay and cell loss rate (CLR), are very stringent. These constraints are difficult to meet if high network utilization is desired. In this paper, on-line dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithms, in which the bandwidth is adjusted based on the current frame size, are proposed to improve the bandwidth utilization. When the bandwidth deviation is large enough, the bandwidth renegotiation process is triggered. Compared with CBR service. network utilization can be improved significantly for the same CLR. In general, to achieve a very low CLR and high bandwidth utilization, the renegotiation frequency niay become high. Algorithms, which are proven to be effective in reducing the renegotiation frequency while keeping the bandwidth utilization at a reasonable level, arc also proposed.

Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation for Eecient Transport of Real-time Vbr Video over Atm

This paper 1 presents a novel approach to dynamic transmission bandwidth allocation for transport of real-time variable-bit-rate video in ATM networks. Describe video traf-c in the frequency domain: the low frequency signal captures the slow time-variation of consecutive scene changes; the high frequency signal exhibits the feature of strong frame autocorrelation. Our study indicates that the v...

Dynamic bandwidth allocation for stored VBR video in ATM endsystems

The paper introduces a scheme for delivery of variable bit-rate (VBR) coded video from a video server over ATM networks. To solve the problem of long term variations in bandwidth requirements, a dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme is proposed. This is based on renegotiation of bandwidth during the duration of the call. An algorithm is presented, that determines optimized renegotiation points fo...

A Transmission Scheme for Streaming Variable Bit Rate Video over Internet

In this paper, we consider transmission of variable bit rate (VBR) stored video for distributed streaming service. In streaming service over Internet, video server usually employs network congestion control protocol in order to adapt the dynamic change of network traffic. This protocol often results in the discontiguity of playback at client’s side. We propose a novel transmission scheme to ove...
